The article presents a complex content of ethnospecific properties of the concept «intelligentsia» in American languoculture. The analysis of the historical and current «layers» of the concept is carried out, its nominative field is constructed. He differences and similarities in conceptual interrelations of original and borrowed
concepts, the reasons and specificity of their substantial characteristics are revealed.
