There are presented the results of the conducted study of the first-year students in
Astrakhan State Medical University of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation aimed at
the revealing the motives of the choice of the profession of a doctor, there are stated the factors having
influence on the students’ professional choice. There is emphasized the gender aspect of the professional
identity.
